A strong example of accessing European funding for increasing NGO capacity, this project proposal demonstrates one of the ways in which civil society organisations can actively contribute to shaping and promoting relevant public policies. The funding amounting to €221,543 was secured through the Operational Programme “Administrative Capacity” (POCA), aiming to develop the competencies of NGOs and social partners in the public decision-making process.

Strategic consultancy for accessing European funding through operational programmes

The intervention covered the entire funding application process, starting with the identification and analysis of the funding guidelines, a stage in which eligibility conditions, programme objectives, and strategic opportunities for the beneficiary were assessed. This analysis formed the basis for developing a coherent project concept aligned with POCA priorities.

Subsequently, the process of developing the project concept was coordinated in close collaboration with public sector partners and relevant organisations. This stage included defining the objectives, target groups, and activities, as well as integrating a component focused on alternative public policy, with an emphasis on the field of traditional crafts.

Funding application for European funding for strengthening NGO capacity

During the operational stage, we ensured the preparation, drafting, and submission of the funding application. This process included preparing all supporting documents, the detailed budget, and the required annexes. Following the administrative and technical evaluation stages, the project was approved.

The overall objective of the project was to increase the capacity of NGOs active in the field of traditional crafts in Romania to formulate and promote an alternative public policy proposal, including a legislative initiative regarding the organisation of craftspeople and the recognition of their activity as a traditional profession.

Such projects are important for strengthening the dialogue between civil society and public authorities. Collaboration between NGOs and public institutions enables the development of better-informed policies, adapted to real needs on the ground and supported by practical expertise. In addition, they contribute to the professionalisation of the non-governmental sector and to increasing its impact within the governance process.
