Preparing to apply for European funds does not have to be discouraging. On the contrary, with proper guidance it can be much easier than it seems.
At ILIGRA, we have refined over time a set of workshops suitable for every stage of the non-reimbursable funding cycle. These learning experiences are flexible and focused on practical aspects. We believe that the best moment to develop your team is when a real opportunity or project is on the horizon. The benefits appear immediately, and the learning has the highest chance of being put to good use.
Project Writing Workshops for European Funding Applications
ILIGRA workshops can be a simple first step in developing the capacity to prepare grant applications. Strongly oriented toward the correct ways of preparing a funding application, the project writing workshop is valuable for any organization looking to design and win medium- and large-scale projects, such as education, human resources development, training, communication, or mixed interventions. The flexible approach, focused on ways of thinking and fundamental structure, makes this workshop suitable for any organization and any field.
We propose a learning program adapted to your needs, with approximately four sessions of 1.5 hours each, plus follow-up. Ideally, it coincides with a real funding opportunity.
"I’m bringing good news—we were selected by the French Institute for the communication and influencing project. :) Thank you again for all your help." — participant in the project writing workshop who later won financing.
Workshops for Managing Projects with Non-Reimbursable Funding
Beyond the general challenges of project management and the complexity of your field, non-reimbursable funding can create anxiety in teams unfamiliar with its specific requirements. An introductory workshop designed specifically to prepare the team for managing such funding can be the ideal solution.
For project management workshops dedicated to implementing funded projects, each program is adapted to the specific needs of the project. A typical program includes four sessions of 1.5 hours each, plus post-course support.
Workshops for Strengthening Reporting and Monitoring Capacity
Developing capacity in reporting and monitoring is especially useful for organizations and companies that frequently implement projects or, in fortunate cases, run several European-funded projects at the same time. Risks and complexity can multiply quickly, so good preparation can prevent bottlenecks and errors that are difficult to fix later.
A standard personalized training package for one project includes four sessions of 1.5 hours each, with follow-up. It also includes analysis and feedback on one report.
Logical Framework Approach Workshops
The Logical Framework Approach (LFA) is a planning methodology that forms an integral part of project cycle management. It has been adopted by numerous international organizations and is particularly well suited for capturing all elements involved in an intervention that generates intangible results, such as behavioral change. Since 1993, the LFA has been the main project cycle management tool used by the European Union, contributing directly to its development.
The LFA supports the design of an intervention. Its primary output is the Logical Framework Matrix. The quality of this step can influence the success of a future European funding application.
Benefits of learning the Logical Framework Approach for European funding applications:
Develops structured thinking for project design.
Offers confidence in defining the key components of a project: objectives, results, activities, and indicators.
Helps you better understand the common language used in all projects financed by the EU and other funders.
Supports a flexible approach to navigating different project management methodologies (Agile, Lean, Scrum, Prince2, etc.).
Helps align partners when applying for European funding, especially when they come from different work cultures.
Workshops: The Problem Tree Exercise (Logical Framework Approach)
With two core stages, this exercise can make the difference between a project with high chances of success and one that starts with many risks.
The first stage is understanding the method in theory.
The second, and most important stage, is applying it to a real project, intervention, or issue the team wants to develop. At ILIGRA, we prepare your team to understand and use the Problem Tree Exercise and we organize applied workshops to help develop well-founded projects.
Maximum effects are achieved by teams that start early and use the exercise regularly. Ideally, this workshop is used during preparation for funding opportunities.
Creativity Workshops: Generating Project Ideas
When you have many scattered ideas, can’t decide, or feel the team is blocked, you can turn to our Project Idea Generation Workshops, based on scientifically validated creativity techniques. From our own experience, we know how challenging this stage can feel when clarity is missing or the problem is very complex.
These workshops work best when you have identified a funding line for which you want to apply. They bring the greatest benefits when several team members participate actively and prepare seriously. Don’t worry—we take care of the interesting part!
Reinvention Workshops
When innovation is not just a nice-to-have but a necessity, a completely different approach may be the right answer. See our licensed solution on the Easy Reinvention Lab page.
Success in applying for European funds has many components—and many moments of joy—when the team is well prepared.

“Thank you, and same. Part of what I loved most about working with you was how your experience as an entrepreneur was evident. You have a powerful way of speaking succintly, and being very on point for what the team needs to think about (that we might not have been thinking about). :) I deeply respect your opinions and I really hope we can collaborate again.”
"Just to let you know we had a digital meeting with the Norwegian Culture Council today in order to learn more about the situation [Ed: concerning the grant application]. You should be proud to learn that your application was one of only 13 that were successfully approved from 80 applications!”
"More good news for today! :) After a year and a half of waiting, the longest ever, but definitely worth it :) Thank you once again for all your help. Do you happen to know what the next steps are for signing the contract and getting the project started?"
"Great news! :) We won the funding. It was a brilliant team effort, and I’m so glad we could collaborate on this application. You mainly saw the interaction with me, but I had a whole team behind the scenes helping out with contributing data, drafting content the endless paperwork, scanning, and the final submission. Today we celebrate; tomorrow we get to work! :)"
"Even though we work remotely, and we’ve been working this way for a while now, we want to thank you sincerely for standing by us and providing such invaluable support. It is remarkable how quickly you mobilised and how much you helped us launch a completely new programme for us in this context [Ed. note: the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic].
“One of the respondents to the survey called me to tell me that the questionnaire was smartly done and she wanted to discuss leadership solutions. Above expectations, as always.”
"The project's goals have been successfully attained. We were highly satisfied with the outcomes and with the efficient, constructive manner in which both the project activities and our collaboration unfolded."
"I want to thank you on behalf of the whole team for your guidance during the application process. Having your constant support and dedicated involvement made all the difference, especially as this was our very first submission. Though it was an anxious journey at times, we successfully passed every milestone, and we hope this marks the start of a long-term partnership."
